Anime Review: Busou Shinki Episode 2

Episode 2 and 3 of Busou Shinki was already aired since last week (episode 2 was 2 weeks ago). And the episode 4 is about to air in 2 days. I need to hurry. So, here's the review of the 2nd episode, titled “隠し味は硝煙の香り (Kakushi Aji wa Shouen no Kaori; The Secret Ingredient Smells Like Gunpowder)”.

Sorry for the late post. But, better late than never, right? So, previously, Rihito found a mysterious box in his room. It turns out that the box has a Strarf Mk.2 type Shinki inside. So, who is she? Why she's there?

It turns out that his father is the one who give that Strarf Mk.2 to him (though I don't know why Rihito is asking about a monitor program) as a surprise. After that, he registering the Strarf and giving her name “Hina”. And he also giving an order to Ann, Ines, and Lene to introducing Hina about his place.

 New term of introduction. Just don't do that in real life

 Shinki bathing?

In some place, Pocchii (Howling type Shinki) and Tamamii (Mao Chao type Shinki) find the one who always beating Shinkis in a park, which they think are Ann, Hina, Ines, and Lene.

Then, Lene have an idea to giving the master a gift for congratulate him entering high school. While the others agreed, they still don't know what kind of gift they should give to their master.

 Hina doesn't want to be called by her name by others. The only one who can call her name is only the master

 (I sense something!)

 Hina's sense of surroundings is indeed sharp. Just look at that.

Knowing the fact that Rihito really isn't into a Shinki battle makes Hina sad

 

At night, Ann, Ines, and Lene, with Hina sleeping, gathered together talking about the gift. Ann have an idea to give him a feast for dinner, which means a home-made cooking. Ines and Lene disagree with her because of the “Shinki Cooking Incident”. But Ann still insist with that because she thinks master will happy if they give him a home-made cooking. Changing their minds, they finally agrees.

 There's even a special door for Shinki!

 New menu: Fried Shinki. LOL

 That's an online store. But, how do they pay?

With Rihito in school, now, cooking time~

 Anti-bacteria spray. Even Shinki can use this?

 She seems enjoy it, but.....

 "That will take days to finish!"

 Shrimp mustache. LOL

 Just how can she mistaken with that? And how in the earth can human eat that?

 New kind of taste testing. So high tech!

 *plop!

Meanwhile, Pocchii and Tamamii still annoyed with what Ann, Hina, Ines, and Lene done (though only Hina who done that) to them yesterday. To get revenge, Tamamii send her Petit Machines to attack them while cooking.

The kitchen become messy thanks to the attack from Tamamii's Petit Machine. They have to clean it.

But suddenly.....

The room blackouts. Thus becoming somewhat “A horror scene”.

 What's on your back, Lene.......

 Hina to the rescue!

Yeah, great place for hiding indeed

 

Thanks to Hina, the room lights up again.

 "Come and fight me!" Yeah, you can see how cool Strarf is.

Pocchii and Tamamii finally runaway, admit their defeat. After that, Ann needs Hina to help them cooking.

Rihito finally back home. And he's surprised to see what did his Shinki done. And he's happy about that, especially to Hina.

 Yeah! Tsundere Strarf!

And that's the end of the episode. Yet another Shinki daily live episode. No battle whatsoever. Just a normal, ordinary live. Now, my impression:

Shinki registration is the first attempt to do if you buy or get a Shinki

It's an obvious thing because it also did in both the game and the Moon Angel OVA. In fact, it's an obvious thing for us to register the product with our data first before we actually use it. That including electrical stuffs, software programs, even an appliances.

Shinki bathing nakedly? Just what did they thinking?

Shinki is supposed to be a robotic figurine. And their body is actually their own skin. In this anime, their body isn't actually their own skin, but their own clothing. So, their own skin is actually naked. And in anime terms, naked body means bathing (well, not always though). Why? In real life, you even need to buy the Naked MMS Body separately.

"NAAAH!!!" - They didn't actually design a Shinki properly, in some points

This thing shows when the Shinkis are bathing. Bathing in anime terms is actually a fan-service. And thanks to that fan-service, they forgot what it supposed to. They just design it like a real human with a Shinki joint lining. So those joints are like human tattoo or a scar. What!? I hate that. I want to see them as a Shinki (because the title is “Busou Shinki), not a human (or else, it will become “Busou Ningen”). I know that Shinki want to be treated like a human. I know that because I play the game and that's included in the story. But still, they're Shinki, not human. In fact, I found it kinda awkward to see a fan-service to a Shinki. So, is it actually necessary to add fan-service to a Shinki?

"YEAH!!!" - Strarf Mk.2 (or Hina), heroine of the show

It clearly shows in this episode that Hina, the Strarf Mk.2 type Shinki, is the live saver to everyone. In the series (well, game), Strarf is a pretty serious type Shinki, which makes her indeed a serious fighter. She always practice in her spare time. So, doing a task like saving someone is pretty much a piece of cake for her. And she will down or sad if she being told not to fight. Strarf also becoming the strongest Shinki among all other Shinki in a terms of strength. But in a terms of skill, Strarf is actually on the same level as her wave sister, Arnval. The difference is, Arnval has a pretty advance weaponry, while Strarf has a pretty advance skill. You can see in Moon Angel OVA or Battle Masters Mk.2 opening movie how strong both of those Shinkis are.

 

 

“Shinki Cooking Inccident”, LOL

I think, this barely just a Shinki clumsiness. But I don't know that I found it funny. Especially when Lene look at the news, where there's a picture of a Shinki fried in a pot. Just how's that possible? And it doesn't look like that Shinki slips and fell into a pot either. In real life, if you cook a Shinki, it will melt by the heat instead of fried because Shinki are made by plastic. So, is that Shinki fall to a fried flour or something?

This episode shows that Shinki can do almost everything

Well, this thing already shown since the previous episode actually. But let me say here. In the previous episode, you can see the Shinki tidying the room, bringing everything inside including a heavy things like a barbell, cleaning the room, and cleaning a toilet. Then, in this episode, you can see the Shinki can do cooking and also clean up the kitchen mess in a short time. They can do everything despite their small figure. They are amazing!

Question, does Shinki actually have a stomach?

This thing bugs me a bit. Because in previous episode, you can see the Shinki drinking a tea and eating some snacks. You still can see the Shinki drinking a tea in this episode too. And also, you can see Ann tasting a food or a liquid supper or whatever is that in a very different way. So, does the Shinki have a stomach or something?

"NAAAH!!!" - Oh, tentacle rape.....

I never like tentacle rape. And again, is this thing really is necessary?

Pocchii and Tamamii, friend or foe?

Pocchii and Tamamii are the guest of this episode. And they pretty much annoyed with Ann, Hina, Ines, and Lene. Even so, they also make a helpful effort for them, which I think they know about that, makes them even more annoyed. But still, helpful effort is a good thing. All of four main heroines should say thanks to them somehow. Well, in the game, both of those Shinkis are a friend of the main character. So, is it also applied here in the anime later?

Not a good episode actually. But still enjoyable. You can see the Shinki doing a lovely cooking. And the horror-like scene is an extra. And looking at tsundere Strarf also a big plus. And to remind you, Busou Shinki isn't just about a Shinki battle, they also have a lovely daily lives like this episode.

Next episode, yet another Shinki bathing again. But the most important, Ach and Yda appears! And Hina doing a battle with them. Also, Clara (Eukrante type Shinki from previous episode) becoming a guest again. Since the episode is already aired, I bet most of you people are already watched it, right?
