Gege Goes To: Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Asia at Sentul International Circuit

In Indonesia, there is a racing circuit located in Sentul called, umm... Sentul International Circuit. Even though it's called international, the organizer not often held the international racing event as they held local racing event more often, specially Indonesian Sentul Series of Motorsport, one of Indonesian biggest racing event. But, back in 6 to 8 of June 2014, they finally held one. And it was a big one. Because it was Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Asia Series.

(Writer's Note: Sorry for the late post. Last week, I was kinda busy, partly because of the college things, but mostly because last week was the week of 24 Hours of Le Mans. And I also forgot to capture some photos of the parade run and the race. So I apologize for that.)

Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo is a series of one-make race of specially tuned Lamborghini Gallardo called Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo. It described as world's fastest one-make racing series by manufacture since the car is seriously quick. The first season was held in 2009 with only available in Europe. By the time, the series became more popular and then expand into Asia in 2012 and North America last year. Because of that expansion, all the series will end in the World Final, which first held last year. Then, weeks ago, it finally reach Indonesia for the first time for Asia series in Sentul International Circuit. And I came there to see how it looks like.

The series was held in three days. The first day was for practice and qualifying session, the second day was for the first race, and the final third day was for the second race. The race was also supported with one of the local racing event, the Euro 2000 series. I came there on the third day since, well, I kinda busy back then.

I came there kinda late. And thanks to that, I missed the first race of Euro 2000. Fortunately, however, the main event wasn't started yet. Kinda lucky really. And before the race was started, there was a parade run of Lamborghini cars in the circuit. And it was awesome! You can see the roaring "bull" running on the track and hear the screaming loud engine of the Lamborghini supercars, mainly the Aventador and Gallardo.

After the parade run ended, rather than doing nothing in tribune, I then went to the paddock instead. I saw numerous of sportscar and supercars, all the parking Lamborghini, and of course, the Gallardo race cars. I was kinda nervous when I first entered there, but it seems the people out there was responded nothing. So I did it anyway.

Finally, the race. And honestly, it wasn't that exciting. First of all, there was only 14 cars on the track. And then, while the race was nearly started, there was only 12 cars on the grid, making 2 other cars DNS (Did Not Start). And while the race was on, 2 cars were out, making only 10 cars were racing back then. There was one or two exciting parts in the race. But, the rest of that wasn't. The only exciting part that recorded to my brain throughout the race was the screaming V10 engine of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo race car. But, well, it's a race afterall. This thing often happens.

You can check the final result here.
