Parade Test Drive 10 at 15th Otobursa 2014

This is Parade Test Drive 10, which is a car test drive session in Otobursa. And as the name suggest, this event was on its 10th year run. I always come there when it comes to Otobursa. But, this one, or rather this time, was a bit different. Because at first, in the morning, the place was quite. But then, couple hours later, it became crowded, particularly on one car.

The session is always being held inside the Otobursa venue. So you can't drive the car on public road. The event is outdoor, so it isn't strange at all. But, the stage, as always, is so small and kinda complicated. It located in a car park, making a lap with only 2 corners, and it has 2 obstacle. Compared with the previous years, it was bigger than the one in 2012 and 2011, but it was smaller than the one in 2010.

But, since we talk about test drive, the main focus is, of course, the cars. This year, it had a total of 15 cars from a total of 8 car manufactures. Here are the list of the cars they had in the session:

I only tested 4 of those. And I can give you a mini review on them, since it was short and not that thorough.


Kia Picanto (2014 facelift, A/T)

Spec:

1.2L inline 4-cylinder

Power: 87 ps

Torque: 12.2 kgm

Transmission: 4-speed automatic, also available in 5-speed manual

Pros:

• Nice steering
• Good suspension respond
• Good throttle respond

Cons:

• Not that good driving position (preventable)

Chevrolet Spin CRDi (LTZ, M/T)

Spec:

1.3L inline 4-cylinder diesel

Power: 75 ps

Torque: 190 Nm

Transmission: 5-speed manual

Also available in cheaper LT variant

LTZ variant is also available with 1.5L petrol engine, in which also available in 4-speed automatic transmission

Pros:

• Good driving position
• Acceptable seats

Cons:

• Quite heavy steering
• Bad pedal positions
• Stiff suspension

Toyota Yaris (2014 model, TRD Sportivo, A/T)

Spec:

1.5L inline 4-cylinder

Power: 109 ps

Torque: 14.4 kgm

Transmission: 4-speed automatic, also available in 5-speed manual

Also available in cheaper G and E variants

Pros:

• Nice steering
• Good dashboard layout
• Nice driving view
• Very spacious back seat
• Comfortable back seat

Cons:

• Very stiff back suspension
• Ugly dashboard design

Daihatsu Ayla (X, M/T)

Spec:

1.0L inline 3-cylinder

Power: 65 ps

Torque: 85 Nm

Transmission: 5-speed manual, also available in 4-speed automatic

Also available in cheaper D and M variants

Pros:

• Good seating position
• Spacious back seat

Cons:

• Engine is somehow rough
• Throttle response is too light
• Quite stiff suspension
• Quite heavy steering
• Quite high back seat leg room position
